The Text To Speech Editor screen is used to build new SSML documents or troubleshoot existing ones.

The Text To Speech Editor tab is divided into 3 frames that will be referred to as :

Text To Speech Editor Frame

Main frame in the middle

Audio Frame

Frame on bottom left

SSML List Frame

Frame on bottom right

Text To Speech Editor Frame

This is the main frame in which SSML documents are built or edited. A new SSML document can be created using

File > New > New SSML

An existing SSML document can be selected from the SSML List Frame on the lower right corner by right clicking on the document and selecting Edit SSML.

Whenever editing SSML documents using this editor, context-aware auto-complete will assist you in providing hints as to options available to you, as well as showing common lists of available parameters and values where available. Auto-complete will automatically appear as you type, allowing you to select from a list of the displayed options.

TTS Auto-Complete

There are 3 buttons below the Text To Speech Editor Frame that assist in TTS/SSML editing:

Speak
Once the SSML document is completed, you can test it to see how it sounds by pressing the Speak button. Any errors detected in the document or during synthesis will be shown to the right of the buttons (you can also see errors by right-clicking on an SSML document in the list and viewing properties for it).

Apply
This saves the SSML document being edited in Speech Tuner. This does not save a copy to the original file location. It just saves a copy in memory so that changes are not lost while you edit a different document.

Revert
Reverts out all changes made to the SSML document. If the document was originally loaded from file, this button returns the SSML document to the original text loaded from the file. If the SSML was edited by creating a new SSML document in the Speech Tuner, using this button will revert it back to default SSML creation template i.e. reverts all your changes so care should be taken while reverting documents.

An additional selection to the right allows you to toggle between working with UTF-8 encoded text and ISO-8859 encoded text. This can be useful if you are pasting text from an external document for example, and need to adjust for the encoding.

When working with non American English languages, or with words using the extended ASCII character set, it is important to select the appropriate character encoding format to ensure that those extended characters (typically accented characters) are correctly maintained. The editor will attempt to auto-detect the character encoding format of your SSML documents, so you may not need to adjust this setting.

Audio Frame

This area displays the audio control, showing the waveform generated by syntheses, which can be played by clicking the  Speak button.

Right-clicking in the Audio Frame will allow you the option of saving the synthesized audio to file in .WAV format.

SSML List Frame

This is the lower right frame. It displays the same information as shown in the summary view. This area displays a list of SSML documents used in the currently loaded call data. For each SSML document, you can see its URL, the number of times it is referenced by interactions, along with a summary of the start of the document.

Right-clicking an SSML document from the list brings up a context menu with the following options:
